Awakino River Lodge

Only a 5-minute drive from Mōkau. An iconic historic building that captures the spirit of its diverse past, while providing elegant, country-style accommodation and relaxation inside and out, on the banks of Awakino River.

The Coastal hamlet of Awakino is peaceful and picturesque; as soon as you arrive in this remote location, with just fifteen houses and a hotel - you feel worlds apart and ready to slow down and relax.

Family reunions, boutique self-contained accommodation, special events, birthday celebrations, corporate planning workshops, boutique weddings, and romantic getaways.

We are also pet-friendly with both properties being fully fenced.

The renovation/rebuild of the building was begun in 2005 and completed in 2009.

The design is modelled on a Country Lodge. The Furniture is an eclectic mix of English antiques, Indonesian and Mongolian chests, a Macrocarpa dining table made on-site, and a Macrocarpa kitchen joinery made on-site.

There are original antique French Posters and photographs and a collection of French artifacts and antiques which have been carefully collected over many years.

The Lodge is perfectly set up for catering to up to 8 people with ease.
